Bedford Ride
The Mission of Bedford Ride is to improve the quality of life for Bedford citizens by providing better access to non-emergency medical services. The Bedford Ride office has a full-time staff located in the Bedford Memorial Hospital. Offices hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday, excluding holidays.
Passengers
We are looking for neighbors in need of our services. Residents of communities served may be eligible for Bedford Ride non-emergency medical transportation services if they have no other practical means of transportation available and if they are disabled, elderly, or low-income.
Once eligibility has been established and a medical appointment has been made, passengers contact the office staff to arrange for transportation. We generally require that transportation requests be made a minimum of 2 days in advance, but ask that they be made as far in advance as practical. Medical appointments should be scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Exceptions, due to unusual circumstances, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Our direct expenses are very low thanks to our many volunteers. However, passengers receiving transportation are asked to pay a small fee to help cover a portion of other operating costs. This fee is based on the distances traveled and the passenger's ability to pay.
Passengers who normally require regular medical or personal care will need to bring an appropriate care-giver along to assist them because drivers do not provide medical services.
